Very sad to return to the UK to news that Maurice Broomfield had passed away. I was lucky enough to know Maurice , he always showed an interest in my work and encouraged me with constructive comment. He was a wonderful man and his photographic record of Industrial Britain is a lasting legacy. He will be missed.                                                        Nov 2010

Rwanda
16 years since the Genocide in Rwanda broke out, following the shooting down of President Habyarimana's plane, when nearly a million people were massacred; thousands more were maimed, raped and suffered unbelievable atrocity in the space of 3 months. The world stood by.  I've met some remarkable survivors, heard their stories, been trusted to photograph them; many are the younger generation growing up in the shadow of 1994.    I hope the Country develops and gives hope and opportunity to everyone in Rwanda.                             7th April 2010

Digital Economy Bill

Today, 7th April the Government want to push through the DEB  which will have its Committee Stage, Third Reading and be voted on in the space of around two hours this afternoon/evening. Although an amendment to Clause 43 has been made, this is unacceptable 'The regulations may not authorise the grant of a licence in respect of works of photography created after 1950.’ More info here:-  or follow my, or various other, twitters or the facebook group for stop43.org.

Digital Economy Bill
This proposed Bill introduces serious and radical changes to photographers copyright - both professional and amateur.  ACT URGENTLY and write to your MP because this Bill will allow any user to circumvent copyright - it has far reaching implications, and I am specifically concerned re what could happen to the use of images of children.
