Gail Ward
A genuine interest in people and a passion for humanitarian issues, the environment and travel has been reflected throughout Gail’s working life.
Gail lived in North Africa, West Africa, South
East Asia plus a number of places closer to home, including France, Austria and Greece. She speaks good Greek, French and
rusty German - and can say 'hello, how are you, cheers and where's the lou" in a number of other
languages!
With the Travel and Tourism Industry, Gail travelled extensively and enjoyed working with different nationalities and cultures. As an independent photographer and writer, Gail pursues her humanitarian interests working with NGO’s, NCO's, NFP's and smaller charities to raise awareness of the lives of others. This she finds rewarding and gives her work a 'sense of purpose'. Her involvement with the Travel and Tourism Industry continues, with particular focus on sustainable community tourism - telling the story of people working hard to alleviate poverty through co-operatives, partnerships and other small business initiatives. As a result, she set up Responsible Photography Holidays which supports some such initiatives.

The
fact Gail feels so
at home in many of the places she photographs and writes about is reflected throughout her work. Naturally sensitive and
empathetic to situations, she works openly but with respect and
discretion (photographing with the minimum of kit and natural light). She has spoken at Conferences. Schools and Events about her work.
In 2009, Gail set up the ' mountain village photo project'' for school children living in a village in the High Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
Truth in photography is important - factual, honest and respectful.
