Licensing and Terms & Conditions

'Freelance' does not mean 'Free Resource' - it means that I work as an independent, self-employed freelance photographer and writer.

Gail Ward's photography and written work is subject to terms, conditions and licensing. Terms and Conditions for commissions and assignments are agreed prior to engagement on a client specific basis. Terms  and conditions include , but are not limited to, the research, production and provision of images, location and travel costs, expenses,  usage by client for the agreed license/timescale.  I do not license images for 'royalty free or free re-use for perpetuity'.

'Rights to use' licenses are agreed on a client specific basis for a specific purpose and time frame for a fee depending on, for example,  the assignment, location and usage. Stock images are licensed depending on the Industry, media, requested usage and distribution.  Digital images are provided in digital format.  Model and/or property releases or consents will be provided if deemed necessary or requested. Copyright remains with Gail Ward and is NEVER assigned elsewhere. Please note that images distributed for PR are usually licensed and subject to terms and conditions agreed  with Gail Ward and the PR Company/Agent.

  • -Industry Details

  • -Image use and details, e.g. the Media where the image (or feature) will be published

  • -Image size, print run, placement

  • -Online usage and size

  • -Apps usage and size

  • -Books and ebooks - image size, print run, placement, territory, distribution print

  • -Magazine, Newspaper and printed media - number of words, category, territory, distribution print,

  • -Licence Territory, i.e. the geographical area permitted, e.g. worldwide, UK,

  • -Llicence duration, e.g. 3 months, 1 year, 3 years

  • -Authorised purchaser details and purchase order number

  • -Payment terms
